Set up SRT streaming the easy way
You do not need a server, a spare PC, or any networking know-how. A hosted relay gives you one link. Paste it into Super Simple IRL and go live. That is the whole setup.
The easy way is a hosted relay
A relay is a small service that catches your stream, puts your bonded connections back together, and passes a clean feed on to your platform. It handles the hard parts so all you ever touch is a single link. This is the setup we recommend for almost everyone.
What you will need
- Super Simple IRL on your phone.
- An account with an SRT or SRTLA relay, such as BELABOX Cloud.
- Your channel details for Twitch, YouTube, or Kick.
Get live in five steps
Sign up for a relay
Create an account with a hosted SRT or SRTLA relay. Not sure which to pick? See where to get an SRT or SRTLA relay. BELABOX Cloud is a popular, purpose built option.
Create your relay and copy the link
In the dashboard, create a relay. It gives you an ingest link that looks like
srt://...with a streamid on the end. Copy the whole thing.Choose where it sends your stream
In the relay dashboard, add your platform stream key, or point the relay at your own OBS. The relay forwards your feed there automatically, so you set this once and forget it.
Paste the link into the app
Open Super Simple IRL, go to Settings, and paste the link into the SRT URL field. Set Target bitrate to what your data can comfortably hold. 4 Mbps is a safe start.
Tap go live
That is it. Your bonded stream reaches the relay, and the relay sends it straight on to your audience.
Prefer to use OBS?
You can still add overlays and alerts. In your relay dashboard, point the output at OBS instead of straight to your platform, then stream from OBS as usual. Pair it with NOALBS so OBS switches to a holding scene by itself if your signal dips while you are out.
Recommended app settings
- Bitrate: 3 to 4 Mbps for mobile data, higher only if your connection is strong.
- SRT latency: around 2 to 4 seconds suits most mobile networks.
- Codec: H.265 gives you more quality per megabit.
- Resolution: 720p is plenty and easy on data. Step up to 1080p when your signal allows.
Troubleshooting
- Nothing arrives at the relay. Re-copy the full link, including the streamid, and paste it again.
- Stutter or drops. Lower the target bitrate, or raise the SRT latency a little.
- It works then stops. Your data may be weak in that spot. Bonding a second connection in the app helps it hold.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need my own server or port forwarding?
No. A hosted relay handles all of that. You paste one link into the app and go, no router settings, no public IP, no fuss.
How much does a relay cost?
Hosted SRT and SRTLA relays are usually a few dollars a month, depending on the provider and how much bandwidth you use. Check the provider's pricing page for current rates.
What is SRTLA and do I need it?
SRTLA bonds several connections into one steadier stream. Super Simple IRL does the bonding on device, and a relay such as BELABOX Cloud recombines the links on the other end, so you get a rock solid feed with no backpack.
Can I still use OBS with a relay?
Yes. Send the relay output to OBS for overlays and alerts, then go live from OBS. Add NOALBS for automatic scene switching.
